To mark the International Day Against Food Waste, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture is organizing a conference on the topic of ‘Wasting less food’ on 23 September at 18:00 at the Forum Geesseknäppchen.

Science journalist and author Ranga Yogeshwar will give an introductory lecture entitled ‘Emil’s world – a society in transition’. In it, he asks himself what kind of world his grandson Emil will live in. Greater sustainability is essential to ensure that our descendants can also live well on this earth. This includes reducing food waste.

Afterwards, experts from the fields of food production, processing and distribution, as well as a consumer representative, will discuss the question ‘What is being done – from field to plate – to reduce food waste? Where is there potential for improvement?’

Participating in the discussion are:

  • Martine Hansen, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Viticulture
  • Ranga Yogeshwar, Science journalist and author
  • Christian Hahn, President of the Chamber of Agriculture (production)
  • Jean-Marie Neuberg, Boulangerie Jos & Jean-Marie (processing)
  • Véronique Schmitt, Director of Marketing and Communication of the Cactus Group (distribution)
  • Paul Gries, President of the Union Luxembourgeoise des Consommateurs (ULC), the Luxembourg Consumers’ Union

Moderation: Pit Everling (RTL)
